A Fantastic Look At The Power Of Beltaine and Sex

Flower of Life – Georgia O’Keeffe

This is a post from Galina Krasskova’s blog, Gangleri’s Grove… All I can say is YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!

Women especially are penalized for enjoying their sexuality. Then, what to me seems even worse, I see people who are never touched. I’m not talking sex, i’m talking simple physical contact. I see people every day who haven’t been hugged in a decade. I see people who are starving physically and emotionally for basic human contact. There have been scientific studies done proving that if infants are denied human affection–skin to skin affection–they can die. Why should it be any different for adults? Even if they don’t die in body, they can wither away inside in their hearts and minds and spirits. Moreover,  I see people who have never touched themselves and now I am talking sex and I think it a moral crime to fill someone with guilt and shame for the pleasure their own body can give them. We should love our bodies. We have to live here after all. Let’s take some pleasure in that…in our own bodies and those of our partners’ too.

Let’s put the sacred back in sex in all its forms!

Sumer Is Icumin In

This weekend has been absolutely gorgeous. Our internet went down on Saturday, which I don’t mind so much except that I was planning on calling family, and it interrupts my work (which requires me to send and receive files). So I am currently writing this post on my man’s phone, which for some silly reason is making me have to press shift to make every letter the proper case, lol. I think that this break is a good thing, I spend entirely too much time in front of a screen, albeit, mostly from working.

Back to the beautiful weather… Amazing, warm, sunny, in bloom, smelling like delicious flowers, cut grass, childhood, and impending summer. The young God is growing ever stronger, the maiden becoming more enticing as Beltaine drawing nearer. I’m feeling excitement growing as the summer becomes more apparent.

I hope your days are filling with anticipation and excitement… unless you’re south of the equator, preparing for the feast for the Great Dead, or preparing for air conditioning if the warm part of the year is when your body and mind tends towards rest.

Happy Ostara!

I’m wishing all of you wonderful readers a very blessed Ostara/Equinox! 🙂

Little Jenny Wren

Blue Wren by Heidi Willis

LITTLE JENNY WREN
Little Jenny Wren fell sick,
Upon a time;
In came Robin Redbreast
And brought her cake and wine.

“Eat well of my cake, Jenny,
Drink well of my wine.”
“Thank you, Robin, kindly,
You shall be mine.”

Jenny she got well,
And stood upon her feet,
And told Robin plainly
She loved him not a bit.

Robin being angry,
Hopped upon a twig,
Saying, “Out upon you! Fie upon you!
Bold-faced jig!”

Don’t Fret! I’m Still Here!

Hello, my pretties!
I haven’t fallen off the face of the universe… yet… 😛
I know I have the “Blogging Without Obligation” up, but I thought it would be nice to let you know what’s been going on for me in the past few weeks.
I was sick… an awful, at first, head cold/stomach issue thing, then it turned into horrible headaches I couldn’t get rid of no matter how much ibu prophen I took and lavender I smelled. The headaches are still around… definitely not as bad, and manageable with some drugs. Also, this week and last week happens to be midterms for me! Eep! Had a big music history test on Friday, have a Theory test on Wednsday this week, then a quartet thing to sing in sight singing on Thursday, and a sight singing test this Friday… and finally, my piano midterm next Monday! Phew!

I will say though, that this year has definitely been a Hel of a lot nicer to me as far as stressful situations go! No crazy room mates, and a theory class which has a pace I can relax in! Also… somehow, my pieces for my solo vocal work are pretty easy, and all in English except one (how did that happen?), which just has a repeated “Alleluia”, lol.

Arighty, I will be posting soon, have a wonderful Autumn (or Spring) day! 🙂

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay;
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee;
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company;
I gazed – and gazed – but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Feeling Crafty

I’ve been a bit bored, and a bit saddened by the bareness of my walls and lack of any sort of decoration being done since we moved to BC. So today, I went to Martha Stewart, lol, yes I did! I got the idea for the bird on twigs from her site, then decided to do something for my living room area wall. And the result was a silhouetted chrysanthemum. I searched for an image online that someone had created with an illustrator, and copied down in my little book, then cut out the parts accordingly.
And at the end is a picture of the little pieces of moss I picked up last month outside my door after a rain. Aren’t they cute? 🙂

I will also have you know, that I baked some bread as well today! Mmm… and I’m just going to put the chicken in the oven. I’ve been a busy bee. Makes sense as my actual name means honey bee 😉

And I think it might start thundering! 🙂

The End

The end of the semester from hell has come and passed! Yay! I now only have a week and a half off just before I go back for more classes during the summer. Thankfully, I’m only taking two courses – Studies in Poetry and History from 1900-1945. They’re the courses that are required on top of my music courses, but I decided to take them during the summer because I can, and I’m glad I chose to do it that way, let me tell you!

So some interesting news, my school choir, and some previous members to fill it out, were asked to perform for Video Games Live! It was pretty awesome. And to show how awesome our group is… lol… we had to sing a completely new piece we’d never seen before the day of the first performance! Go us… we totally rocked it, so it ended well, that’s for sure 🙂 They asked us to perform again with them on the 18th of May, so woot! More singing moneys 🙂

Anywho… Beltaine is on its way! I’m incredibly excited, this is one of my favourite holidays, and not just because of the obvious 😉 It’s crazy that I’ve been writing this blog for just about a year now! Eek! And that means it’s almost my birthday too 🙂 I’m quite excited for the coming summer, all sorts of prospects… and rest, much needed rest. Thank goodness I’m only going to school two days a week 🙂

It’s Ostara this Weekend!

It will officially be Spring this coming Sunday! I’m so excited! I will have a little Ostara ritual, and do some fun, Spring-y stuff, like pick up some soil and pots to grow all of my delicious herbs (and a few choice vegetables!), we will likely create beautiful Ostara eggs (Pisanki) as well, although, we may do that closer to Easter (at the end of April this year).

I’m ever so excited for Spring, and the coming warm seasons. Even though here in the Pacific North West, the winters are actually pretty warm, those clouds that keep the sun away most of the time can get quite annoying! While I do enjoy the warmer weather here, back in Ontario, we have quite a few sunny, very cold, but sunny days during winter.

Anywho, I suppose I could go on about how Ostara is about renewal and yada-yada, but you already know that 😉 Here are a few other cute Spring-y pictures!

P.S. Happy St. Paddy’s tomorrow! 😀 I know a few people who are taking Friday off of work… lol.
