October Teas

I know, I know! I said I wouldn’t release any more teas this year, well, I lied apparently lol. I also know it’s still only October, however, when it comes to buying handmade gifts online for the holidays, it’s always best to start early! If you want to make sure your teas arrive in time (not 100% guaranteed as once a package is in the mail, I’ve no more control), please order by December 5th.

I just had some more Yuletide flavour ideas, and needed to get them out so I could have an excuse to make and have some for myself!

Chocolate Orange, Hygge, Mrs Claus’ Kitchen, and Krampus

Along with the usual Yuletide teas of Peppermint Lane, Elven Nog, Midwinter Madras, and Yule, we now have four brand new blends!

Chocolate Orange is the classic holiday treat in a teacup. Green rooibos, Belgian milk chocolate, safflower, and citrus blossom flavour.

Hygge blends rooibos and black tea together forming a wonderful base for Belgian milk chocolate, and almond flavour.

Mrs Claus’ Kitchen is a chocolate truffle in a cup. Blended with rooibos, Belgian milk chocolate, coconut, and hazelnut flavour.

Krampus might be a good idea as an offering if you’ve been especially naughty this year! Smoky Lapsang Souchong black tea is blended with cinnamon and clove.

Getting Organized!

Oh guys, it’s been a while! And if you haven’t read my latest newsletter, I’ve got some plans to be organized and more productive this coming year with bullet journalling! I’m probably going to keep it fairly simple, no crazy art things happening within them, and that’s ok because I plan on arting this year, and likely listing them in my shop 🙂

So… the main reason why I wanted to write this post is because I ordered some passport sized traveller’s journal covers from Beth at her website, Sea Bunny Designs. And man… I’m in love!

Here's what I got in the envelope. The two journals, a lovely bag of tea (I've never had Bigelow's teas yet, so I'm excited to try it!), and a bag of decadent incense of frankincense, myrrh, and clove. *happy sigh*

As you can see, I got a custom one done up with my shop's logo on it for all shop business organization and planning! I gotta say, it's weird seeing my logo on something like this... and so awesome!

These are the inserts Beth made, each journal comes with one. I looove the paper she used for the covers, and the dot graph paper inside is nice and thick too!

Lastly, I made my own inserts while I was waiting for the journal covers to arrive! They're a tad big, so a couple of them that don't have anything written inside yet will get trimmed, and the others will stay the same, no biggie :)

So if you’re thinking of getting organized this year too, I’d highly recommend Beth’s journal covers and bullet journalling! You can find the listing for the plain covers here, and custom ones here. She also has Hogwarts houses covers *squee*, and Game of Thrones, as well as River Song’s cover from Doctor Who!

Alright, enough fan-girling, just go check out her shop already!
So, yes, journalling, and keeping things organized! I plan on keeping an insert for tea recipes (I can usually figure out a recipe within one or two tries, so it all goes in the same place), as well as my calendar insert, and perhaps an insert for big picture business plans.
My other purple journal inserts will be for keeping track of my personal life, as well as a journal for spiritual things, of course! Not sure if I’ll need much more than that for that one. Who knows? I could go nuts!

In other news, so long as things keep going well, I’d like to at least look into an herbalism/shamanism course for this year. This one really depends on how well the shop does, as the course is definitely a bit of an investment; however, I think it would do me and the shop quite well, especially in terms of healing teas, broadening my knowledge base, and getting me more connected to the plants I work with for my teas.

This year is looking exciting, I’ve got to say, and it’s all thanks to you guys ❤

Happy new year! May it be filled with all the blessings! ❤

June Is Here!

Fuschia

And so is June’s Forest Witch Newsletter! You can sign up through the link if you’re not already on the list. It’s at the least a once monthly email, though sometimes you’ll get smaller emails concerning special things like last month’s early announcement of my Hogwarts House Tea Blends.

Besides that… it appears I’ve disappeared from this blog for 23 days! Holy moly! Now, I do have that little image on the right column that says I’m blogging without obligation, but it sure has been a while for the time of year when I’m most eager to communicate!

Well, it’s been super busy! Each week has had many tasks and projects to do, lots of it concerning the gardens here, my new raised veggie and herb bed for example (though it cost a bit to set up, I’m trying to work smarter, not harder, especially since now I’m running a small business!).

The husband-man and I bought our first car last week, which meant nearly the whole week was full of car things, discussion, phone calls, scanning documents… But in the end, I think we’re both really happy with our new, adorable vehicle!
Now… if only it were electric, and batteries were better! But I think we’ll see that in the near future 🙂

Hibiscus & Ivy

I have a feeling it is finally going to slow down a bit, but I’ve definitely come to realize that my birth month is one of the two busiest months of the year for me (the other being December). And that’s fine by me since I love the start of gardening season, and being outside, and sitting on patios, bonfires, sunshine, flowers, bees, birds, and good company.

There’s a few more odds and ends to be done for the garden anyhow, but not a whole lot more of the labour and time-intensive things. Although later this summer, I plan on building a greenhouse, and perhaps a cold-frame contraption for my new raised bed. We shall see what I can accomplish with my resources and know-how. 🙂

Strawberry

And as for teas, oh, I have some big plans, BIG PLANS I SAY!! Actually, if you sign up for the newsletter, you’ll know what those plans are! But I am quite excited about them. The process is a little lengthier, but I’m hoping to finish the project within the next week or two!

Oh, summertime, you are one of my favourite times. Though to be fair, I love all the seasons when they come. I’m excited for many trail rides, drives to the beach, the beach itself, lots of gardening and harvesting and canning/cooking! I have plans for what I hope will be a goodly sized crop of raspberries this year, two jams, a regular and a seedless for my mama. Oh, it all just fills me up with an indescribable joy!

I hope you are enjoying this time of year as much as I am!

Welcoming in the May

Well, hello there, dear gentle reader!
You may have noticed it is quiet here in terms of anything spiritual, and that’s mostly because it’s been quite busy! Spring is always a season of getting shit done, and shit has most definitely been getting done around here!

I’ve been fixing up the bathroom here, and let me tell you, these arms are not meant for doing ceiling work! 😛 And perhaps that’s a reason I should be working them out, lol.

Then I’ve been filling out many orders and working on recipes that need to be reblended or slightly tweaked. Then there’s the SECRET project that I was wanting to get out last week, but other things keep taking up my time. However, I’m still super excited about it, and hope it will roll out within the next two weeks.

Spiritually, things have been quiet, but looking back, there’s always a bit of a lull this time of year, and I think a lot of it has to do with said busy-ness! I am going to be getting out to the gardens, so that will give me that meditative time, therefore I will have some quiet time for the spring and summer to sit with my Gods. 🙂

And as for the gardens, I’m done with in-ground. The weeds are just the flipping worst, and I never want to do it again… ok, now that that drama is done… I’ve decided to make a couple smaller raised beds. No huge garden anymore since I never want to grow potatoes again (Colorado Potato Beetles are the worst! Go back to Colorado!!). I want to grow things that are expensive to buy in the store.
I’ve already begun buying berry bushes, currently there are raspberries, blackberries, white and red currants, and a goosberry bush. I did have blueberry bushes, but unfortunately I live with mow-happy weirdos (no offense, family, I love you), and they were mown over. So blueberries are on the list again this year.

And then in the garden proper, the husband-man wants tomatoes for paste making, I want some for salsas, and then a million kinds of basil, more herbs, zucchini, Swiss chard, carrots, beets, onions, pumpkins, butternut squash, and a few other things I’m likely forgetting.
And since that garden will be smaller, I can have more flowers and be able/have the energy to take care of them elsewhere.
ALSO…. MULCH!

Anywho… that was just a bit of an update on where I am right now… and I wanted to add that the May newsletter went out yesterday! You can find it here, and please do subscribe if you are so inclined! You will receive a lovely little coupon in the first email too! For the most part, I do a once-a-month email, but when I have secret projects, or sales, there will be other smaller letters to let you know first by email! ❤

Very Happy Ostara!

DSC00685

I’m hoping you all are having a beautiful day, whether you’re being witchy, or simply enjoying the turn of the season ❤

I spent about 20 minutes out on the deck, wrapped up in my fuzzy blanket and enjoyed the sun while the doggies hung out. It got a bit cold here, but really, our warm weather has been really warm (record-breaking) this year, so I’m cool for colder weather right now. 🙂

Imbolg Tea

Oh I am so happy to be mixing tea again! What a bluster of a holiday season that leaves me every so tired and in need of hibernation!

Imbolg

Sweet and juicy pear glazed with gingered maple syrup. A treat in the middle of winter as the light slowly returns.

This tea will certainly keep you warm on those cold winter nights, whilst reminding you of the fruits of summer the trees will soon burst forth in a frenzy to grow. Enjoy as you plan the coming year’s crops, whether literally in the garden, or within yourself; offer up tea to the youthful God growing ever stronger in light; or offer it to the land and wights.
As always, this tea is delicious to sip if for no other reason than pleasure.

So have a look at this nummy, warming tea created with the cross-quarter day at heart. And if you’re looking for other seasonal teas, check out my seasonal teas section.

A Blessed New Year!

I wish you all love, happiness, adventure, and surprises of the wonderful kind in the coming new year, dear gentle readers! ❤

I also want to thank you for your support in both keeping up with me on this blog and with my shop! I hope to offer many new wonderful teas in the coming year that you can enjoy alone or with your Gods!

Much love, and many blessings,

Mia

12 Days of Yule

The coming days are going to be filled with lots of visiting and celebrating, and oh, the food! The glorious, delicious food!!!

And today, today will be special, a quiet ritual for the return of the Sun, amongst other things… And the start of a lovely past year reflection that Beth posted about last year, based on the runes. I’ll be focusing on one pair of runes for each of the twelve nights.

This year has been interesting, and honestly seems to have gone by in a flash as I remember what I was doing this time last year. However, if I really think on it, and remember each part of the year, it goes in its own time… not too fast, and not too slow.
I have been very blessed with love and happiness, and success with my shop. I feel good about what’s to come in the new Gregorian year.

May your Yuletide season be blessed with love, joy, and merriment, dear gentle readers!!

❤ ❤ ❤

Mia

Hello?

Yes, hello to you! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything non-tea related… though for the millionth time, I LOVE THE TEA… 😉

Well, I suppose there isn’t too much to talk about actually. I’ve been pretty busy with blending teas, filling out spreadsheets, using a cool app to do my accounting, and planning for Yule. Spiritually, it’s been quiet because so much focus is going into the teas. There’s been too much being tired to have enough energy to really hang out with my Gods other than asking Them for advice concerning tea. A fact which is not so happy, however, They are ever supportive.

I have forgotten once again that vitamin D is such a help for me during the winter months (duh). It’s funny because this summer, my brain finally started working more normally again for the first time in a few years (especially in remembering things & focus). Well, I spent quite a bit of time outside… in the sun… yep. Thankfully I still have enough brain power for me to realize a few weeks ago that I definitely need the vitamin D for the dark months. I’m feeling better since I started taking them, still tired, but not in the brain department. No signs of SAD yet, though I didn’t have much last winter (to which I thank the very bright snow, and sunny weather that usually begins in January and runs through till the end of March, the occasional storm breaking it up).

Anywho… There are plans for gingerbread cookies, Scottish shortbread, custard tarts, butter tarts… and the man and I (and whoever else wants some) got our Yule duck to nom on come Christmas day. I have yet to decorate our side of the house, but perhaps tomorrow?
I’m also excited to gift tea to my family and friends here, likely Butterbeer, Yule Father, and Mad Hatter’s Party Blend, unless I come up with a couple other blends before gifting commences!

I am just feeling very content since I began to offer the teas in my shop. I’m always thinking of what kinds of blends I might work on next, and I adore that I can be inspired and guided by my and other Gods to create blends to share with Them. Honestly, I think that’s the best part of making teas. It is so satisfying to create things for Them, to work with Them on something delicious and something that provides such a lovely connection to Them.

So Much

It is busy! But in a very happy way! I’m grateful for those who have bought my teas, I’m so excited to be making them, and excited to share things that are nom! I absolutely love tea, and making teas for my Gods and sharing with Them has been quite the experience. I can definitely say that the process has brought me closer to Them, made Them more tangible and present, as physical things are wont to do. And with tea, I ingest it, take it into myself, I share it with Them… it is an interesting and lovely experience, I must say!

Which is why it makes me excited to be doing this, to have thought to offer the same experience to others with their Gods/Spirits. I’m just super happy to be doing this… if you couldn’t already tell!

Now, the process of figuring out how best to ship has been an interesting journey, one I’ve hopefully figured out, at least for now and with the packaging I currently have for my teas. Also… let me say I hate that I can send something to the US for cheaper than within Canada. Ugh, I hate our Postal system. Thankfully I am able to send things quite cheaply here, but still. Makes no sense. Is anger making.

So besides all the tea-induced delirium, there’s lots of Yule preparations happening. I have my list of goodies I am making this year, as well as making teas for friends whom I did not have time to cross stitch something for. Also teas for family… teas for everyone! 😉
I’m hoping this year after all the festivities are over, I’m not going to get sick  three times in close succession afterwards… that was… not fun. Hopefully my system will be able to handle all the social interactions and sick people better! Fingers crossed!

And lastly, a few weeks ago was time for a revelation in a dream. I haven’t shared about it because it had hit me right in the feels. I’m not going to go into much detail because I’m still processing this, as well as still figuring out what it means for me and my relationships with my Gods. Not to worry, I think it was a good thing to have seen, though not necessarily the happiest. Tears happened.
I don’t often dream about my Gods, though I have of Baldr the most this past year; and this dream was so very impactful, showed the connections that go beyond this life I live. And there was so much love. And I can’t even express how awed and grateful I am to Him for the experience of it, for sharing it with me.
It’s things like that that set me aright time and again, that let me know this is where I’m supposed to be.
