Nice Girls vs. Kind Women

Woolgathering & Wildcrafting

This post is a bit of a departure from my normal blog material (namely— nature, plants, poetry, ecology and metaphor), but with the coming march on Washington this weekend, and the potency of so many women standing in their power across the county— proclaiming, in hard set voices and many-faceted hearts, that we will not stand by and see any section of the population belittled — has me thinking of the old ways that are ready to die. The tired ways of seeing that are about to expire. It has set me thinking, most particularly, about a concept in our culture that is utterly, and completely, worn out.

The nice girl.

You know what I mean. You might even be one yourself.

>> Nice Girls <<

At some point growing up I internalized the idea of needing to be a “nice girl.” It was never something my parents proffered, it…

Two new journal options — Wytch of the North

Getting me some of these! I’m always awed at River’s (aka Beth’s) many crafty talents ❤

I posted two new options for my handmade “fauxdori” leather traveler’s notebooks today, and they can be summed up roughly as “plain or fancy”. Plain:Like to keep things simple? This listing is for a “plain” (no cover design) Midori-style leather traveler’s notebook cover, with your name or monogram (or that of a gift recipient) stamped […]

I believe in supporting small businesses whenever possible, so please make sure you check out […]

Yay! Some Autumn Teas!

In case you missed it, September’s newsletter went out last week (which you can find here and sign up if you like!). And in it, I revealed three new teas for the cooler weather that is (hopefully) coming!

dsc01616

Inspired by cool evenings at the fair and the sweetest treats, a blend of black tea, almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, pecans, and peanuts. But that’s not all, they’re covered in a light and decadent dusting of sweetest maple sugar.

You can find Maple Roasted Nuts here.

Beware the Evil Queen’s apples, lest you fall prey to their ill effects, such as wanting more tea!

A fantastic tea that tastes just like apple crisp. Honeybush tea provides a warm, fruity base for a simple blend of apples, cinnamon, and oats, mixed with a goodly amount of brown sugar, of course!

Poison Apple Crisp tea is to be found here.

You must hurry before the carriage turns back into a tiny pumpkin, so come on and sip awhile until the bell tolls the midnight hour!

A delicious pumpkin spiced chai, you’ll start with a base of a deep and dark black tea, then nutmeg, ginger, clove, and cinnamon will warm you inside and out. Finishes with a delightfully familiar creamy dollop bringing out that pumpkin flavour, whilst apples and pumpkin seeds remind you of the harvest season.

This delightful Pumpkin Carriage tea can be found here.

I hope you enjoy having a gander at the new delicious teas! I know I’m enjoying drinking them (the best part about being a tea-maker!).

First Harvest

Lughnasadh

Oh dear gentle readers! I do so very much hope you all are having a fantastic Lughnasadh! ❤
Not much other than herbs and raspberries are being harvested here, though there will be an enormous crop of tomatoes this year soon! All the salsa, tomato sauce, and paste! Wee!!

Other than that, there’s a lot of reflection for me today on how well my shop has been going, I couldn’t be happier that I began this journey that I share with you guys and all my beloved customers! And not only the shop, but what the future holds now that we feel comfortable enough to start laying down some solid plans. Things are a happening. ❤ ❤ ❤

I wish all the blessings of the wilds and waters to you!

Naming the Unnamable — Wytch of the North

Oh, so much this! All of this!

I’ve had a problem calling my Gods by Their names since I began working with Them. I also see in hindsight how much those specific names have kept me narrowly on a path to know who They really are, sometimes keeping me from actually knowing Them outside of the names we have for Them.

It’s good to be able to research, but for me at least, I know this all works out much better when I allow Them to show who They are, to listen to my intuition.

Love, love, love.

So, you’ve probably noticed the general lack of content posts around here after this one went live. I do intend to keep posting more than just shop promotion here, when I have time, but in the wake of what were some pretty big changes in my path, I’ve needed some time to sort out what […]

A CALL: Channel Anger, Banish Fear and Hate

This is so important right now. I’ve been so disheartened by everything happening right now, all the terrible things we’ve been doing to one another… if I can relieve some anger and hate from the region I live in, and others do the same, I think we can help reason and love work its way through. ❤

I have received an urgent message this afternoon, confirmed through another reader. It was from The Morrigan and Brighid for all who are able and willing, anywhere in the world. While the whole mes…

A new necklace, a new necklace!!!

Ok, though seriously, after this one, I’m done for a while, which is fine since I’m well rounded out now!

This beauty is from Sebastian over at The Serpent’s Garden. And I have to say, this necklace is so fabulous in all the many senses of that word! Pictures don’t do it justice because it is so much more amazing and colourful in person. It’s actually bigger than I thought it would be too, which is awesome since I like decently sized jewellery! Not too hot, not too cold 😉

I also can’t stop staring into the pendant, it is captivating, and I loooooooooove it!!! The colours to be found in it are gorgeous! Then don’t even get me started on the beads of the actual necklace, oh wait, isn’t that what I’m doing in this post??? 😉

The beads are so saturated and rich with colour, honestly it’s awesome! I love finding ways to bring more colour into my life, because let’s be honest, there’s a weird beige-ness to north American colours. But this necklace is not to be mistaken whatsoever, there’s no hiding it, and Seb really has an eye for beautiful beads, not to mention that gorgeous pendant (oh wait, I already did mention it… ugh… I LOVES IT, MY PRECIOUS!).

JUST LOOK AT IT!!!

So, besides getting something shiny and gorgeous to wear, there was an actual purpose for this necklace. One of them was getting birthday bling, the other was to serve as a connection with Queen Maeve, as my necklace from Beth serves the same purpose with Baldr. I was contemplating getting something custom done for Her, as I hadn’t seen anything that quite fit.
But wouldn’t you know it, when I had a gander, this beauty pinged me. It very much reminds me of some interactions with Her, the saturation that I mentioned. It’s just very much yes.

So I’ll just leave this here for you to gawk at 😉
And if this tickles your fancy, go on and have a loot at Seb’s other offerings, because he makes some pretty amazing stuff!!!

Announcing the Virtual Temple Project — The Road, the Walker, and What Comes Next

This is so amazing, I love the way in which the internet has opened up so many avenues of connection, and innovative ways in which we can worship. ❤ ❤ ❤

I am happy – and nervous and exhausted and intimidated – to announce the launch of a new project that’s very dear to my heart. The Virtual Temple Project is a multimedia endeavor that brings polytheist and pagan worship spaces to people everywhere with the help of video technology. Even though the number of publicly […]
